Cotton Spinning Sector.
The Spinning
Sector is the most important segment in the hierarchy of textile production. At
present, it is comprised of 521 textile units (50 composite units and 471
spinning units) with 10.1 Million spindles and 114 thousand rotors in operation
with capacity utilization of 89 percent and 60 percent respectively, during July
– March, 2008-09.
Yarn Production &
Exports.
The Cotton Spinning Sector has
performed slightly better than other sub-sectors.
Beside market
response – easing of raw materials through local
supply imports – diversification to blends and the incentives granted under the
support packages the Industry has shown mixed response as compared below:-
